Workshop on Training for Mediators

The Supreme Court of the Union is organizing a Workshop on Training for Mediators in collaboration with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the opening ceremony is held today at 9:30 am in Park Royal Hotel, Nay Pyi Taw.

Justice of the Supreme Court of the Union U Myo Tint, Chairperson of Court-led Mediation Working Committee, delivered a welcome speech at the opening ceremony.


The Supreme Court of the Union is now making the development of Court-led Mediation system for civil suits in Myanmar in order to establish efficient and effective Court Dispute Resolution (CDR) systems under the Strategic Objective of Judicial Strategic Plan.


The workshop aims at supporting the successful implementation of Court-led Mediation system in judicial process and the expert from Japan, Mr. Hideo OKA, will lead the discussion session. The Mediator’s Manual drafted by the Working Group with the JICA team will be mainly discussed in the workshop.


A total of 40 judges and judicial officers from the Working Committee, the Working Group, different level of courts in the Regions and States, Office of the Union Supreme Court and Office of the Union Judiciary Supervision are attending the three-day workshop. The workshop will last for three days, from 29 to 31 January 2019.
